Beretta 92. US vs Italian made Questions

I have a question about a 92 that I am looking at in a local gun shop. Its stainless with houge rubber grips and in 100% mint, looks like never been fired condition. It also is one of the ones made in Italy with (2) 15 round mags. Whats the difference between the Italian and US made 92's? Are the Italian ones worth more? When did they stop making them over there and start making them here? Whats this one worth ?? Its MINT.


Anyone know of any Beretta gun forum?

    I have an Italian 92 and to me, it seems to be a little better fit and finish than the USA made Berettas. Now that the AWB has expired, the two 15 round mags add nothing to the value, so I would guess its worth about $400?

    I am not sure I agree with the previous post. Italian Beretta Model 92 pistols seem to bring quite a bit more on auction sites than domestic ones. Italian stainless 15-round magazines are also kind of rare. The expiration of the ban may have changed the equation a bit, but I still think the Italian ones are worth a premium, both in the pistol and magazines.

    Beretta didn't stop making model 92's in Italy. The reason that they opened a plant in Accokeek, MD is that their contract to supply guns to the Dept of Defense required that the guns be made in the US. Initially they were allowed to import parts, but eventually the entire gun had to be made here. Once that plant met the initial orders for the US Govt, it was more economical for them to continue producing guns for the civilian & police markets, rather than importing them. Beretta has licensed the production of their guns in other countries, for similar reasons.

    thanks guys. I *wish* it was $400. I would have brought it home at that time. They are asking $600 for it. I was gonna offer $500. Its on cosignment so he may taje it..

    I've owned both Italian and US 92s. Fit and finish and fucntion were the same. Personally, I haven't seen any difference other than those created by a difference between old and new. I liked the older 92s better with the metal guide rod ect. Now those happened to be Italian but I am told that all the changes made to the US version have also been incorporated into the Italian ones.

    That being said, most are willing to pay a premium for the italian ones.
