model 12 help

shooting match
I was wondering if any one could help me I have 2 30inch nickel steel model 12's that I use at shooting matches they shot really good but they shot way left I aim about 3 inch's off the paper to get the best shot in the paper is this just the way the guns shot or they something I can do to fix them thanks fo any info

    Good morning shooting match, welcome to the forum! Well I've heard of Md 12s shooting high, but never to the left or right. Since your guns are "Nickel Steel" that tells me they are at least 74 years old, and time is the enemy to all guns. It's possible the muzzle is no longer perfectly concentric, (round). Have you measured the muzzle, to see if there is a major and minor diameter? It could be a little egg shaped by now. If your barrels have ribs on them, you may have to live with it, to re-roll the barrel, the ribs would have to be removed, and a factory rib, (2-pin) you will have the rib post nub that's on the barrel that would prevent that. A solid rib can be removed and reattached. Sometimes barrels have to be "retrued".

    The only other thing I can think of that might cause that, is flinching when you pull the trigger. Feel free to email me by clicking on only winchesters to the left. I know several places that might be able to help you. Regards Dave

    Get your eyes checked. My Son was shooting always to the left and found it was caused by an eye problem.

    Thanks for the info it could be the eye sight thats one of those things that go with age I take my brother-in-law with me sometimes and we don't shot the gun the same only winchester can you tell me what year they was made in the numbers are 319273 and 197763 I also have a 32 inch nickel steel the numbers on it are 258938 and one more question I can get a model 12 for 325 it looks really good the numbers on it are y2009676 with a rib barrel on it I think these guns was made sometime in the late 60's maybe the 70's would it be worth that price thanks for your time and info from East Tennesssee

    That's a fantastic price for the Y Md 12. Jump on it. They usually start about $500. and go up. Also rhmc is correct if you are left handed, you most likely are left eye dominate too. This could cause the drift, if you shoot with both eyes open, or with just your right eye, because it will compensate. I'm left handed, left eye dominate, but have been shooting that way for 45 years and don't notice it anymore. Regards Dave
