These will shoot anything you put in them. I have had the best results with CCI Min Mag Hollow points.
God gave us all a gift. Have you found yours yet ?0 -
I have found over the years that with the many 10/22's I've owned, they never responded too well to the expensive stuff...odd but from what I can tell true. Eley Tenax shoots just about as well as the Remington Subsonic (which I find works best of all ammo I've tried out of them) and the Winchester Wildcat is better than the Winchester X-Pert, but not by too much. My favorite after about 50,000 rounds over the last 25 years(and several WORN OUT 10/22's)..Remington Subsonic. Just my opinion.

I too have found the rem subsonic's to work the best in respect to the smallest group. They seem to do well in all my rugers. 0 -
My hammerforged 10/22T lkes the CCI Mini Mag solids best of all, as does my Shilen barreled 10/22.
Most all of them are a bit different in their preferences in ammo. The best thing to do is try a few different ones that the posts are saying works well.
As others agree, the higher speed ones don't do as well as the standard velocity it seems............

MrBruce brings up a good point that I neglected to mention...that being that the best groups usually come from slower ammo. Another point well made is that they vary a fair bit from one to the next as to what they like to eat.

my 10/22 shoots cci and blazer ammo real well. i think spending $1.50 to $4.00 or so for each box of several brands of ammo and taking the time to see which brand works best for your gun will pay off. plus a great way to spend a couple hours at the range. just my opinion.

Hi rmckuin,
An article from Shotgun News, September 10, 2004, titled "What Can You Do with a 10/22?" tested a stock and customized 10/22 rifle with a variety of ammunition.
For the stock unmodified 10/22, the single best 10-shot group @ 50 yards was 1.107 inches with Aguila Standard Velocity Ammo! The average for the Aguila ammo was 1.5 inches also the best of all ammo tested. The worst group was 9.75 inches with CCI Mini Mags.
For the customized 10/22, this includes match grade barrel, crown, and bolt, the best single group was 1.258 inches with Aguila ammo again. The best average group of all ammo tested was again Aguila with an average group of 1.4 inches. For the customized 10/22 the second best average was Remington Standard Velocity 1.577 inches, Federal Lightning 2.0, Wolf Match Grade Gold 2.007, Remington High Velocity 2.368, followed by CCI Mini Mags, Winchester Super X, and Federal Gold Medal.
My advice would be to buy several of the above brands and see which one your rifle likes the best. It is fun to do quantitative testing like this because the results are easy see.

Heavyiron

rmc, here's my .02,the SS 10/22 I have shoots very well with Winchester SuperX HP in the Silver box. They group very well and are devastatiing on squirrels.I agree with a previous comment with buying several different brands and "grouping" all of them.Good luck with your search,Bob. 0 -
My factory hammer forged heavy barrel 10/22 has a decided preference for the PMC Target ammo. As above, I've tried the Eley Tenex, Laupa Midas "M", RWS and several other premium brands with less results than the PMC.
Keep off the Ridgeline0 -
My Shileen barrelled 10/22 really likes the PMC hollow point. 0 -
Mine likes CCI Green Tags and the cheap Winchester Target in the silver box. 0
