value of savage 99
I have an old 300 savage model 99 and am wondering what it is worth. It is original and hasn't been drilled, tapped or slinged. It's got the pearl front sight and steel butt plate.Any help would be appreciated. thanx

W/out knowing the exact age , a ballpark figure would be betwen $600-$700 dollars. Make sure there is not any cracks in the stock by the tang on the top of the gun. The biggest key to her value is how original is it ? No rebluing, holes drilled, correct buttplate, cracks in stock or forend etc.

I have one in the .308 made somewhere in the 50's. I had it appraised when I inherited it from my father-in-law 10 years ago. Back then it was worth @ $425. I have seen them at local gun shows from $450 to $650. 0 -
Your rifle would have to been made after 1920, the year that the .300 Savage cartridge was interoduced. 0 -
99's up here go for anywhere from $150-$400 Canadian for a .300 Savage. You can pick up a good shooter in .303 Savage for $75-$100 every now and then. My last one was a 30-30 an was given to me.

To know just what 99 you have is the first step. if there is not a suffix letter on the reciever ring on the right side of front reciever . you can go to savage 99 on a search and go to the unofficial savage 99 site and run your seirial # to find date of manu.if by chance you have a suffix ( 99-b , f , g , r, rs, ) exct. exct. you can go to the blue book of gun values and look it up. there is also a very good book byD.P. Murry called THE NINTEY- NINE revised third edition that is most informative. In the midwest a 99 average shooter is going for 400.00 / 475.00 anything more is overinflated. good luck
