S&W Model 59 Field Strip
A friend of mine is having a problem. I'll just cut/paste his note:
Neither Len or I could successfully field strip his S&W M59. We removed the magazine, racked the slide back and tried to remove the slide stop by pushing the button end on the right side of the pistol. Nothing gives no matter what position you have the slide in. This pistol also has what appears to be a removable barrel bushing. Can't really tell. This gun seems to function OK and is in very nice shape but we can't seem to take it apart. What gives

There is a "recess/cutout" on the left side of the slide on the bottom. This has to be aligned with the forward top portion of the slide stop.
Once their aligned push on the portion of the slide stop that protrudes from the right side. If the pistol has never been taken apart and cleaned you might have to tap on it with a plastic hammer.
