What style frame does my Colt officers model have?
1949-1952 Colt Officer's model Special (4th edition) ser:611xx. I recently came upon one, but it needs new grips. What style frame is it? And what grip is suggested? Also any info on this gun is helpful. A trade will be cosidered

I have a .22, serial no 617xx. These are on the Official Police frame. This is the same as a Python. I have Pachmayr Signature grips on mine. These are nice old pistols. 0 -
I have 2 officers model match revolvers, a .22 and a .38spl. Pearyw is right, the frame is the same as the Python, and the older Trooper.

It's interesting to mix and match Off. Model grips with Pythons. I have a Python Elite that I polished into a bright stainless finish and-having short fingers and detesting the Hogue-style grips on the Elite-found some dark service grips that had been taken off an Official Police. They fit perfectly and the dark walnut contrasts nicely with the bright stainless. The smaller grips make the gun slightly muzzle-heavy (it's a 4in.) and easy to shoot. -Asa 0
