    You can use RS but I think you'll probably get better ignition with P powder and I would probably suggest 35gr charges. If you use the RS I'd probably start at around 30gr charges.

    If you are going with a bp sub, why not try 777.
    Burns a lot cleaner than Pyrodex.

    On average the substitutes run around 10% hotter than the equivalent volume of BP.

    Can you use RS ... yes but I don't think you'll be all that satisfied w/ the results.

    I too think 777 is better than Pyrodex, but regardless of the substitute used ... start with a little smaller grain load than you use for BP and increase progressively.

    As I don't know the condition of your gun I don't think it prudent to give you a specific volume. Also, most guns will have better performance at a load that is less than maximum.

    One of the manufacture makes a 30 grain pellet for the pistols. I haven't used any of them. The 777 is alot easier to clean.
