I have a question about An A5 browning.I think it is an american browning.Serial# is on the side of the receiver on the left side #is c5447 this # is also on the bottom of the barrel visable when it is removed from the receiver.looking at the browning site does nothing for me.what I am wondering is what barrels can I use on this gun? I seem to recall something about only american browning and rem mod 11 fitting. does this sound right? also can someone tell me when this thing was made?Thanks for any help Al

I have a Browning A5 made by Remington during WW2 known as the "American Browning". It has a full choke barrel and would like to find a modified. Will a Remington model 11 barrel exchange with a Remington made American Browning? See a numer of the model 11 for sale here on Gun Broker. Thanks 0 -
Made between '41 and '42. I believe about 48,000 made total making it an extremely rare weapon.

If it is an American Browning A5 (made by Remington), it should be a 20 gauge based on the serial number prefix "C". I will disagree just a bit with P3skyking as to when it was made though. According to what I have found in my research, Browning did not contract with Remington to build any of the A5s until circa 1943. Barrels should interchange between an FN built A5 and your Remington built A5. I am unsure if a Remingtom Modle 11 would fit up properly.

I would tend to agree with you on the later dates. I have two different refs giving two different spans.0
