Stoeger Shotguns
hey guys what do you think of the stoeger shotguns? my buddy just recently got one of their coach guns which is great...ive been looking at their over unders and sxs online...does anyone own one or know the quality of them? i cant believe they make over unders for under $400...if anyone has any info it is greatly appreciated...at the current prices i could afford to buy one of every model of stoeger shotguns for the price i would pay for one browning over under

I've always wanted an O/U 12ga. And saw some stoeger guns on the web.. Seems reasonably priced,BUT when I went to the stoeger forum saw some unhappy customer comments?/ What is the general thinking on the guns?? Thanks[?]

About a year ago I picked up Stoeger Condor O/U (12ga) at a DU auction for $400. I've shot about 300 rounds, only at skeet, haven't had any problems with it. Can't say much about accuracy, this is the first shotgun i've owned, and i still haven't figured out exactly how to hit those little things. Overall i like the gun. 0 -
Fit and finish arent the greatest on these for one thing. Although for that price range what do yuo expect. I think many people pay $399 and think they are getting a Beretta .

I've had Stoeger and Benelli O/U's and automatics. Please consider that "... stoeger guns on the web.. Seems reasonably priced" is true. However, the important thing about O/U's is (1) does the gun fit you? (2) can you shoulder it smoothly and get to the check set (3) how much are you going to use it?
If the gun doesn't fit, you'll set it in the closet. If you can't get it to shoulder and check set in a smooth motion, you'll not hit what you're wanting to... If you're going to shoot a few hundred rounds a year, the Stoeger or Benelli (B owns S) is probably fine. If you're going to shoot sporting clays, a few thousand rounds a year, then the guns won't hold up... That's the reason I sold mine... $400? I've seen em at Dicks brand new for 250..

Dicks started these at $399 awhile ago then dropped the prices to the $250-$299 range. That should tell you something right there.

I have a 12 and a 20, and have been happy with them. They are not expensive but they work fine as a hunting gun. I own a Browning Superposed and a Ruger Red Label. They are better but they cost a lot more. I don't think I would recommend these for a serious skeet or trap shooter, but I have not had any problem with mine. 0 -
If you were looking for a cheap route on an OU would you go with the Stoeger or the EAA IZH27s? They're both similarly priced. On another thread I started about O/Us the EAAs were recommended.

I've looked at both and I think the EAA's are nicer. The EAA line has been bought by remington so they won't be available for much longer. Remington is putting thier name on them and jacking up the price alittle. EAA is made by Baikal They also make the Stevens 411 for Savage. My friend bought a condor at Dicks for $279. He is happy with it so far but the fit and finnish on the Baikal is nicer in mho. One thing I don't like about the Stoeger is that you have to switch the safety to fire the other barrel. So each shot you have to work the safety not so with the Baikal. I'm not sure how much your looking to spend but for couple hundred more i've heard great things about Verona. Best of luck with which ever you choose. 0
