700 BDL in 280
Hello, I found one of these today and have heard that they are hard to find in just a regular BDL with a hindged floor plate. I have search all over GB and cant find any listed for some while. If anyone has any insight...Fill me in, thanks a lot!

What is your question??

If they are hard to find or very common? How long they made them? 0 -
I think they are not that popular. The .270 cartridge was a more popular choice, so I don't think there is a large quanity of them.

280Rem is a sleeper that never caught on. If you have found a good one for the right money jump on it. 280Rem is basicly the 7mm-06 wildcat that has become a factory cartridge. 7mm in the 06 case will shoot flater in any given cross sectional density, ie 140g vs 165g, and reap much the same results as the 30cal offering. The 280Rem was done in by the untimely offering of the 7mmRemMag. Why Rem offered both in the same overall time period is a mystery. Will the rifle in this caliber ever become collectors item, probably not. 0 -
Jump on it.The .280 is an outstanding round.I have one in the 700 and it is a great gun.Maybe I got lucky. If you reload you will find it is as accurate as any. 0 -
Rem 700's in .280 mostly are the mountain rifle variant, but were offered in the regular BDL with a medium contour barrel also. Although not a rare item - they are a very good shooting rifle and caliber. Is yours a regular blue finish with walnut stock?? or the flat black?
The .280 case is about the same as an 06 but the shoulder/neck have been slightly extended and is one of the best high power rounds out there. It is more efficient on powder than the 7 mag and almost as flat shooting with out the waisted magnum recoil - it is flatter shooting than the .270 and .06 and with all of the .284 bullet weights out now because of the 7mag you can load up or down for any N american game you want to hunt. Ask a few guys at the gun shops about this caliber - it may be a sleeper but everybody knows it is a good one. (can you tell I have a few[:D][:D])

They are not that hard to find in a 700 BDL. If you want hard to find, try to find one in a model 725. They are mostly hard to find because nobody want's to part with them !!!!!
Excellent cartridge no matter what they are in.
