9mm bullet question
I know I've seen this question answered before, but now that I've finally bought a 9mm auto (Browning Hi-Power), naturally, I don't remember the answer. Is the 9mm Parabellum the same round as the 9mm Luger? Are there other 9mm rounds that _won't_ fit that gun? (e.g. I DO know the .380 is also sometimes called 9mm kurz and is a totally different round).

Thanks, guys. Wayno: your pointing out that the 9mm round measures .355" reminds me that when I bought some 9mm cartridges today, I was struck by how much smaller they are in length and, I gather, diameter to the .38 Special cartridges. Also, the bullets are lighter (at least in the kind I bought)--115 grain vs. 158 grain in my .38 Specials. I guess when police departments around the country dropped the .38 Special and .357 Magnum revolvers for the 9mm some years ago, they traded off greater firepower for greater stopping power. 0 -
The 124 grain bullet is the original 9mm bullet which had a truncated cone shape. This bullet weight in a +P loading is agreed to be most effective for police work by some departments. 0 -
You will also see the the 9mmParabellum[Luger] as the 9X19...

the 9mm Magtech Guardian Gold Series +P HP 124 gr is inexpensive and effective......not a .45 But serious stopping power that can fire out og guns that slide into your pocket....bigger is always better ...then you have to compromise which sucks 0
