i am putting a scope on a new rifle.a friend said to use high mounts.now i always mount my scopes as close to the barrel as i can get.always thought that would be more acurate.Listening to my friend i was curious if it matters?Thinking about triing it but it does not seem like it would be beneficial to me.woundering what othere people think. thanks for the time.

WHO MAKES SCOPE MOUNTS FOR A COLT LIGHT RIFLE AND DOES ANYONE KNOW THE ITEM # OF THE MOUNTS THANKS 0 -
I do not know about "pop off" mounts, but several makers produce lever locked removable mounts. Warne and Leupold are two that come to mind. They can be removed and replaced without losing zero. I have a couple of sets, but as it turns out, I never remove them. 0 -
Hello I have 2 quick detach lever mounts that convert REDFIELD/Leupold type rings that I will sell 0 -
The only way to be able to remove and reinstall a scope with the rings is to use quick detach rings and a true picatinny base. The true picatinny rail can be installed on multiple rilfes,..and the scope can be transferred between them freely. If you wish to set up only one rifle..then look at ken farrel bases for the least$$ and then IOR Valdada, Badger ordnance, near mfg. Then use a HIGH QUALITY set of rings like leupold QRW, Warne, and the previous manuf mentioned.
The cheapest and probably best for anywhere the money would be a matched set of warne QR rings and bases.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
Got Balistics?0 -
You are in a very grey area. What sort of rifle do you want to use this type of system on? Depending on the answer the product available will vary in how expensive and how reliable it is. On my bolt action rifles I use a variety of weaver bases with rings that quick disconnect. Reliability is pretty good, still I wouldn't take one out hunting without checking the zero first. Some of the milspec stuff is better but can also be much more expensive. 0
