Stevens 620 Trench gun marked US,value ?

My local gun shop has taken in a number of these (they have half a dozen left) and are putting the remainder on sale (was marked at $399 and sale now of $299 . All are ser. #ed guns marked US , most blueing is gone, dovetails are clean and lock-up tight, wood fair , a few have light surface rust but no pitting. All were in a police gun valt for over 30 years untouched .
He had a 16 gauge Wards Western Field that he showed me and I took at $150 (long barrel but a 620 with good wood and blueing).

The question is , is the US marked short barrel take down pump shotgun worth $299 ? Is there much of a market on military shotguns ?
Although a shooter , don't see hunting w/it . Your thoughts .....

    SXSMAN...I'd be inclined to jump on one of those. Any US marked martial shotgun has the potential to dramatically leap in value. I know the Stevens are not going up quite as fast as the Winchester 1897's and Model 12's. But there is a niche for them. I certainly don't think $299 is out of line at all. Beach

    According to my reference the US marked ( Ordnance Bomb ) Stevens Model 620 is one of the rarest of the W W II era "Trench Guns".

    It seems to me from your description these shotguns would be perfect candidates for restoration.

    My 2 cents is that you couldn't go wrong to buy one or MORE at that price, chances are they would make excellent trading material.

    If the gun in the picture is indicative of the gun you're buying and you're buying it as a military collectible, I'd say grab it.
    We had these, among other brands, for guard duty in Korea. As they were being loaded and unloaded every two hours, we used full length brass shells in OO Buck .
    Condition 50 some years ago wasn't half as good as that one appears /and these guns never stayed fixed.
    If I recall correctly, the guns had a ventilated sheet metal handguard and bayonet stud.

    v35 , the guns don't look a 10th of the quality of that shotgun on auction here , but I may be a player .

    i just got one of these last month at the gun show. the wood was as good as the picture, but the bluing was a little more worn. i paid 240
