Can anyone give me a specific model number for this? It was a State Patrol issue .38 special, which they replaced with a .357 version in the early 60's. They sold these to the troopers for $30. I bought it from a trooper for $60 and he included 2 boxes of ammo.

The only thing I was told was that it is a 38/44. I recently acquired 250 rounds of Blazer +P. Is this round safe to regularly use in this firearm, assuming it is in excellent shape, which it is?

Open the cyclinder with the latch and stamped on the front of the frame just below where the barrel screws into the frame will the location. It will say something like 15-2, 14-5 or whatever. The first number will be the model number and the second number the variation number/series number.

I don't think that's gonna work. The Model 15 is a "K" frame, the Model 27 is an "N" frame.

I think you should have a give away and give those speedloaders to someone who can use them! Its Christmas!

If when you look inside and can't find a model number, that's because the gun was made before 1958 and the older Smiths did not have model numbers.[:)]
