colt diamondback 22
I looked in the auction section and saw them anywhere from $450 to $1000 asking prices. I found one locally for $550 and it's a 4" Blue in the box. Which side of the scale does this one lean towards?

I am looking for as much info on a colt diamondback 22 6" nickle finish I just picked up, The serial # is P55XXX, The only info I can find says the numbers start with a D not a P. If I could get some info on what year production, What it is worth and anything else would be greatly appreciated. Also what would be the best book for Info on this gun. 0 -
According to the Blue Book only 2,200 6 in. .22 nickel Diamondbacks were made, all in 1979. Quoted value says $650 for 100% specimens plus $150 more (in 95% cond.) for this configuration. Not hard to figure out, but a NIB example could-in today's Diamondback frenzy- sell in excess of $1000. "Could", of course, is a relative term; would someone actually plunk down a grand or more for one? Probably. If it's not NIB, however, the value goes down. Anyway, nice gun. -Asa 0 -
If you call Colt Industries and give them the serial number of your Diamondback, they will tell you the year it was manufactured. 0 -
Six inch nickle .22 Diamondbacks were a one time run manufactured in 1979. See previous. 0
