removing AK piston from carrier

These are pinned in. About a 1/8 size pin. Might need a magnifier to see it. Center punch and drill out using smaller bit. When you screw in new one, do not screw it tight, leave some play. Drill through new piston and install new pin. Some use a roll pin.
    Hope this helps.
It is a right hand thread.

I believe it is cross pinned, riveted over, polished and chromed.
Just looked at one of mine that has wiggle in one direction, indicating it's pinned but no pin is visible.

The above advice should work. I have heard that some of the Century rifles are welded.

My AMD-65 was welded through a hole on the top of the carrier. It only took about 75 foot pounds to break the weld, not much of a weld.
