winchester 32-40
I have just picked up a winchester model 94 in 32-40, The gun was built in 1904 and has a half round half octagon barrel with a button magazine. It also has a marbles tang sight and a shotgun style butt plate made 0f bakalite I think, the gun looks to be all original with about 80% blueing and no bad scratches or dings, I was looking for some sort of price that this is worth and some info on the butt, I have never seen this type before.

I have a winchester model 1894 32-40 serial # 260163, I would like to know date of manufacture, and value, this gun shoots fine is in good condition. 0 -
According to Winchester Dates Of Manufacture 1849-1984, by Madis, that rifle was produced in 1902. The value would depend on the percentage of original finish remaining, whether there were any modifications, e.g., extra holes drilled in the stock, stock shortened, broken and repaired, etc. The Blue Book gives the value range from $1,950 + 20% for a rifle in 98% condition to $350 + 20% for a gun in 10% condition. Deluxe models will command substantial premiums. 0 -
Hello Rick...
If you want the exact date of manufacture, I highly recommend contacting the Cody Firearms Museum - http://www.bbhc.org/firearms/records.cfm and ordering a factory letter.
The value will greatly depend upon the specific features & variation of your Model 1894, and the graded condition. My bet is that is was manufactured in late 1903.
