[;)]I'm pretty sure that if you purchase and install this item, your success rate with snipe will increase dramatically. Also, a generous application of Velocity Lube to your 870's bore will help this product out.[:D] Say--the muzzle of your 870 is threaded to accept this product, isn't it?

DG - I first thought it might be some kind of choke tube or an insert for a variable choke appliance, but I took my Wingmaster barrel off and the barrel extension (breech) resembles this piece that is for sale, however my barrel/extension appears to be a one-piece forged assembly. I guess there are models out there where the extension is a separate part of the assembly?

TH - I think you are right, about yours anyway. Your 870 barrel must have a detachable extension? I wouldn't think this "barrel end" is a replacement part that would be welded onto a barrel. The not-so-in-depth schematic in my Remington manual indicates the barrel on my gun is one-piece with this extension appearing to be part of the barrel.

Thanks to you both for your input. Best, Tim

I dunno....I take 870s apart almost every day, and they have a barrel extension on the rear with a notch cut into the extension, all of which is an actual part of the barrel, into which the locking lug on top of the bolt locks up. Whatever this part shown on the auction is, or if your gun has this part, I'm not familiar with it and I don't think that they are made that way today, so this may be off an early model variation that I'm not familiar with. Well...you learn everyday, and that's what this forum is all about. But--if your gun didn't come with it, you don't need it.

i can assure you that if you are shooting your present gun without one of these, it would have blown up by now! it is NOT a choke, its a bbl extention that is installed to a bbl to make it mate to the receiver chamber. extentions are not removable. they are factory or gunsmith installed to the bbl. if they were loose, theyd be dangerous.

It is a 870 barrel extension for sure, but I have never seen one off of a barrel before. I am real sure that yours didn't fall off, so don't worry about it at all.

Gun control is hitting what your aiming at.
