    Having an C&R help with discounts, but not much. You can get stocks, barrel, parts, reloading stuff at an discount from Midway USA and Brownells. Choate stock also give discount for C&R. But I got my C&R for the military rifles. And that is the perpose for it.

    You will recoup your $30.00 investment with your first gun purchase. I'm sure I have also save at least that much this year in discounts from Midway--I purchased a Marbles tang sight which regularly sold for $125 for $85.

    For $30.00 the C&R license is the best investment out there. In the three years the license is good for you will save big $$$$.

    Can just any ol' body get a C&R? I do not have an FFL. Do you need to have an FFL to get a C&R? I'm in California, btw. Would that make a difference?

    Anyone who can legally possess a firearm can have a C&R.(please correct me if I'm wrong.)
    I would think that if you have an FFL,you don't need a C&R.
    On the other hand,you don't have to have an FFL to have a C&R.

    California does make a difference, however you do not need an FFL to get a C&R. Basically, if you can buy a gun legally you can get a C&R.

    A C&R IS an ffl, so you do not need a dealer ffl to get a C&R. I didn't know anyone discounted to C&R holders, so I learned something useful, Thanks. I do save $25 with every C&R purchase in transfer fees I don't pay.

    Do check the site above for complete information. Basically the C&R license is intended to allow a collector to buy Curio & Relic firearms in interstate trade directly, that is, without going through a transfer FFL dealer. Essentially any fire arm 50 years or more old that is not a National Firearms Act firearm (listed stuff in NFA is things like automatic weapons and others). Additionally there is a full list many pages long listing firearms of less than 50 years of age that are included. Say you collect Colt Woodsman. You will be happy to know they are listed and with your C&R you can purchase in interstate trade even Woodsman manufactured in 1977. It does not license dealing, buying firearms for friends and a list of other things. Do read the site above (I mean download it and really read it).     Let's all of we C&R holders and potential holders keep something in mind. The C&R is a great boon for us, as it allows buying firearms at wholesale prices, delivered to your door, to enhance your personal collection. The temptation to order a few extras for your buddies ( once they find out the prices available to you, without going through a dealer) is strong. You are not a dealer, and cannot act as one. There has been a huge surge in C&R licenses in the last year or two. All it takes is a few guys abusing the privilage to bring down the heat on all of us. They may either raise the price of the license, or restrict it in some other manner,as to make it so much hassle that it's not worth it. Go ahead and get a C&R, use it as intended, and most importantly, read and understand the rules and limitations.....Enjoy!
