tasco scope ?

i came across a tasco m-705 6-18x40X target type scope. this uses unertal(sp?) type blocks, and has the adjustment in the mount rings like the unertal. anybody use or know anything about this model?

    Not familiar with that scope, but....Tasco is out of business & there is no factory repair or warranty service available.

    Tasco has been purchased by, I think, Bushnell. Try giving them a call.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    Bushnell has purchased the Tasco name only. They make scopes bearing the Tasco name, but disavow any knowledge of, or responsibility for, scopes made by Tasco before they bought the name.

    I don't need any service and for what I paid I can junk it if it breaks. Just wondering how it compares to other scopes of this type.

    I would think that all owners manuals, etc would have been purchased along with the company database,..but that would require a call to Bushnell to confirm. They maybe would have the old info for that product on file and be able to foreward that to you.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    Mike, Stroebel's Old Rifle scopes lists Tasco scopes from 1966 through 1985, and does not list this one. It does however have an add from SGD in Miami shoing the No. 705 Variable Target scope 6x-18x 40mm on sale for $65.95, regularly $149.95. The ad is from 1971 and notes that Unertl bases will fit all target scopes. That at least gives you some very rough time frame, though I cannot give you actual years of production. It appears that Tasco produced a huge variety of scopes over the years and Stroebel lists only those most commonly encountered.

    thanks hedog, i figured i couldn't go wrong for $10 and it seams to work ok. it realy looks neat on my martini mk111 target rifle. the scopr is about 18" long and has a 2" objective.

    I would say you are right. Since it was not listed there is no value range, but most from that era go for at least $40 and those are the standard hunting variables.
