Red Dot Scope

Does anyone know who makes a red dot pistol scope that will withstand the recoil of a smith and wesson 500. I put a cheap one on this gun to check it out. It done well with factory loads, but when I put the big 400 grn reload in, the recoil shattered both ends of the glass. please help.

    I have never used or tried a red dot scope. I have recently purchased a 9 mm carbine just for fun shooting. My boys love shooting it. I was thinking about getting a red dot scope for it in an attempt to spice up the fun of shooting the thing. Any tips on getting/choosing a red dot? Is it worth getting for a carbine?

    Hello I like the GILMORE or ULTRADOT they have great customer service and I would get the Ultradot with the var. dot size small for hunting and large for PLATES etc They both will take the recoil some cheap red dot scopes are ok for 22 but not large bore pistols I have a 1911 With slide mounted Gilmore with over 50,000 rounds thru it. quote:"PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN"

    red dot scopes are fine for target shooting but if you ever plan on doing any hunting in low light conditions then look at the Bushnell holosight , I have several different red dots and also several holosights and the holosight just works better for hunting , you don't get that red glare from the holosight that you get inside a red dot scope in very low light conditions ..

    There are several well made red dot sights available that you can use. Everyone has their favorites. You will be mounting it in a .357 revolver, and mounting options and mounting hardware are important. I would recommend the new "True Glo" red dot sight. The unit is small in size, but the sight window is large enough in comparison to others, and will hold-up to the revolvers recoil. It will automatically adjust its brilliantcy to the prevailing light conditions. I would suggest the 3.5 moa dot size for your range of shooting. This sight is new in the market and it already is selling like wildfire. It is priced only around $180.00 to $200.00. It comes ready to install in standard weaver bases. The main reason I recommend it for your specific case is the low sighting plane that will be achieved and the ease of carrying the gun in a holster with the sight installed. Good luck.
