541-s Trigger trouble ?
I have a 541-s,bought it used about 10 years ago.I know it has an ajustable trigger,I have never touched it but assume the previous owner must have. The trigger has 0 travel,it is tight,no movement forward or back. The pull weight is not overly light but less than most factory triggers would be.When I first got it the bolt fell apart in the action the first time I used it.I took it back to the gunsmith,he fixed it,but about every 5 or 6 shots it didnt seem to hit the primer hard enough to fire.I bought a Ruger 77 and put the 541 away.I took it out last week and the trigger seemed to have frooze up.I removed the action from the stock,no appairent rust,I shot some cleaner into the trigger mechanism and worked the action and it seemed to loosen up.Problem-sometimes now when I work the action, the fireing pin releases on closing the action,I have not put a shell into the gun yet as I am afraid of it going off and hearting or killing someone. This trigger looks complex, will Remington fix and adjust this trigger or must I take it in ,any ideas or suggestions. It scares the hell out of me...Mike

your local gunsmith is the place to go. rem. will set it to factory spec's (about 8 lbs.) for free but you'll have to pay shipping. 0 -
