"Fire Fly" Scope ?

Hello:
I'm told there is a "newer" scope out there made for Bushnell or possibly by Bausch & Lamb that has lighted cross hairs. Apparently you use a light source to charge thru the reticle, and the cross hairs are illuminated for a period of several hours. Has anyone used this scope? Any feedback on pricing, quality, and functioning would be great. Thanks in advance.

    Actually they work pretty good but do not last long in the woods. Only up to a few hours. More of a novelty thing.

    Bushnell makes it. It is called the Firefly.
    The Bushnell 3200 Firefly in 3-9x40 is $229 at Cabelas.
    The Bushnell 3200 w/o Firefly in 3-9x40 is $199.

    That is the design of the firefly to only stay lighted for a short time. They are meant to help you during that short period of almost too dark to make the shot but still light enough to identify your target.

    Orginal concept was another innovative thing by Roy Weatherby.
    A firearms, and hunting genius that was literally hated-disliked by many in the firearms industry because of him being such a radical upstart then. Still is carried over by some.

    Believe there was some patent rights issue with it at sometime which is why it's resurfacing for sale again.

    I have some Weatherby's that are 8-9 years old, and still 'light up'.

    It's a great "Eye Aid". Works very well as intended.
    Since most early AM hunters do carry some light source with them, it's easily activated, and is also a help during late afternoon, or even when hunting predators at night.

    If your one of the few....who is getting older, and wants better 'tools', then, like the TV cereal commercial goes, "...try it, you'll like it".
