I saw a webley rechambered for a 357. Has anybody saw this before.

No, and I would not think it to be a particularly good idea either. Some of the Webley designs were big fat bores, so there should be enough metal on them to take the pressure, but then you are going the wrong direction on the conversion...it simply can't be sleeved and the metal is already gone! The 380 and 38 caliber weapons were made for much lower pressure cartridges and would not be considered strong enough to take that kind of bang. Add this to the fact that the overall cylinder length is already too short to rechamber to the much longer 357 mag and you have some pretty serious safety issues starting to rear their ugly heads! Unless you are seeing something in the Webley line I'm unfamiliar with, I would stay away from that one!

There was no Webley handgun ever designed to take the pressure of a .357. 0 -

Hey Andy,
I have no doubt at all that somebody over the years has shown the lack of common sense to attempt this type of conversion...are they wise for doing so however? Hell no. As I said, unless this is a type of Webley I've never heard of (perhaps a modern target revolver of some sort?) you would be looking for a hand prosthesis very soon after your release from the hospital. The frame size Webleys that might work are the big old 45 (".455 Webley) cals but this round is about the same size as the 45 ACP and I think STILL not long enough to accept a 357 round.
Maybe I'm just missing something here. Is there any way for you to post pictures of the item in question? I would be only to happy to eat Crow on this one if you can show me the pistol. I keep learning all the time and it's interesting to me when something like this crops up! If you get the time or opportunity, please post those pics!

I'd really like to see this gun because all of the Webley revolvers, whether .455 or .38/200, have cylinders too short for .357 Magnum.....nor is there room in the frame for a lengthened cylinder.
