According to my references Firearms International was the principal importer of Beligan produced FN Mauser actions & rifles for many years, circa 1940's-1970's.

These were all of very excellent quality. It seems to me you have gotten a outstanding deal.

I don't recall seeing a Musketeer with a 28" barrel though. Get hold of some of the old Gun Digests from that era, to see if FI offered rifles with that barrel length. If they didn't chances are that a third party built it on one of their actions or rebarreled one of their rifles.

The 1965 Gun Digest lists a Musketeer Rifle. It was described as an American made rifle made using an FN Mauser Supreme action with a Sako trigger and sliding safety. Barrel was listed as 24" only and was described as a 12 groove with a "Williams Guide" open sight. It was imported by Firearms International.

Price in 1965 was $128.30. It was available as a barreled action for $87.50.
