Hey Doug
VX is just an abbreviation for Vari-X. If I was paying attention Leupold is making a Rifleman, VX-I ( or Vari-X I), VX-II, VX-III, an LPS and a few others.
PS: Doug welcome to the Gunbroker Forum, I hope you find this as entertaining as it is informative. Dave0 -

If a "VX-III" and a "Vari-X III" are the same, Why did they change the name???????????? I think they're different.. shorter and lighter..May not bad, but differennt... 0 -
I belive ther is a little more difference. The VX-II has "click" adjustments graduated in 1/4" adj., The older Vari-XII have the "infinite" adjustments with no clicks.
There is also a difference in lens coating but my eyes can't tell the difference.
