I have an affection for the 7mm rem mag so I am biased,..but for whitetail hunting,..all 3 of those are more than adequate. If one interest you more than the others,.then buy that one and don't look back.

why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
    Got Balistics?

I have not shot the 300 WSM but I have shot the 270 WSM and it is LOUD!!! The 7mm would probably be my choice and it has worked fine on Elk.

I really like my 300wsm, it is ballistically similar(virtually identical) to the 300mag, just a little bit faster. So with the 300wsm, you get the power of a 300mag, on a normal sized rifle with a short action. You don't have the longer barrel lenth, and it has a short bolt throw.

reloaded.gif You are knuckle-dragging ape with a gun.

You will shoot the 7 better so I would suggest using it. The magnums are an excuse for poor shooting skills most of the time.

My hand loading expierence has been rather poor with all of the calibers mentioned. I loaded for a 7 mag that could not make a 3" group! Then there was a 300WSM that was also very poor. This is rather strange since all of the other calibers I load (270, 308, 30-06) all shoot VERY tight groups, most under 1/2 MOA!

Personally I think it is far more important to be able to put the bullet where it needs to be than how much power it has. The other important factor is what kind of bullet to use... Just my .02 worth but the Barnes TSX has shot VERY well out of all of my rifles.

And just a side note... The 270 with a 140gr TSX is my recommended load for elk. This year it dropped one in its tracks. Also it is not too much for whitetails.

I've never shot the 7mm mag but I do have a 300wsm. I wouldn't trade it for the world! Based on ammo choices it could be overkill on whitetail (i.e. ballistic tips) from what I've seen but definately on the mark to also use as an elk gun. And IMO it's not necessary to layout a lot of cash for a Browning or Winchester. I have a Howa 1500 and like it a lot.
