winchester 32-40
I have just picked up a winchester model 94 in 32-40, The gun was built in 1904 and has a half round half octagon barrel with a button magazine. It also has a marbles tang sight and a shotgun style butt plate made 0f bakalite I think, the gun looks to be all original with about 80% blueing and no bad scratches or dings, I was looking for some sort of price that this is worth and some info on the butt, I have never seen this type before.

If yout Winchester was manufactured in 1904, it is a "Model 1894" versus a Model 94.
The buttplate is actually black hard rubber (not plastic or bakelite). In order to determine the potential value on a special order Model 1894 Sporting Rifle, I will need to see several pictures of it. You should also consider obtaining a factory letter for it from the Cody Firearms Museum... the letter will tell you exactly when it was manufactured and shipped, and will confirm the special order barrel, magazine, and buttplate. If it does not letter with all of those features, then it will not be worth nearly as much $$$.
