a broken non functioning gun still require ffl ?
the gun will never be repaired. it cant be. its an alloy frame and its cracked. it will never be safe to fire. its been stripped down and has no top end. how do i dispose of the number and can it be shipped as junk? papers needed?

I don't know that a "crack" would disqualify the receiver as a firearm. Could it be welded?
Usually, when a firearm receiver is destroyed, made into a non-gun, it is damaged to the point that it cannot reasonably be repaired. Most are torch cut. Some are crushed.
I have destroyed firearms, and will probably do so again. When I do it, I make sure it will not be repaired. Then I enter "DESTROYED," and the date in my bound book under disposition.
I have only sold one after destroying it. The others I tossed into my pond.

Disagree. It doesn't even have to be in two pieces, as long as it cannot be "readily converted" back to shooting condition.
I have bought demils that were squashed. I have bought demils that had the chamber area welded up, making it impossible to remove the barrel or chamber a round. Either way, they were out of commission and not classified as firearms.

nunn will remember this....its my old sig 226 where the slide rails are gone. i mean gone! they split all the way down the frame. you cant attach a slide to it! it will just fall off. 0 -

I'm no expert, but I'd think that if you hacksawed it into 3-4 chunks (2 cuts across the rail area and 1 across the grip) that it would be considered sufficently "distroyed".
A quick call to the local BATFE office would probably be the best route.
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
I would send it to SIG, and ask for a replacement.

I have a S&W model 10 circa '60's that was used in a crime in New York City. After it was used in court it was destroyed by NYC-PD by crushing in a hydraulic press beyond logical repairable limits. I purchased it as a rusty relic at "Sarco". No FFL needed. Still have it as a paper weight/conversation piece. If I sent it for "damaged" frame replacement to S&W using the same serial number in a new "replacement" frame, could this be done? Would I be able to obtain a "clone"? 0
