yes,..they do not sub out the barrels any more. I beleive the old barrels were sub-par and that was the reason they had a reutation for either being a shooter or a POS. My 77MKII in 30-06 has gone .5moa with several loads and no gunsmithing whatsoever. I must have one of their newer hammer forged barrels.

why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
    Got Balistics?

I AGREE WITH JUST C, THE NEWER RUGER MADE BARRELS ARE MUCH BETTER THAN THE ONES THEY BOUGHT OFF THE OPEN MARKET. I HAVE A 77 MK2 THAT WILL GROUP MUCH LESS THAN AN INCH (7mm MAG.). I HAD A SDT. M-77V IN .25/06, BOUGHT NEW, THAT HAD A BORE SO ROUGH THAT A COTTON PATCH WOULD LEAVE FUZZ ALL THE WAY DOWN THE BORE. AFTER ABOUT 300 RDS. IT SMOOTHED OUT ENOUGH TO SHOOT 1.5" GROUPS BUT NOT WHAT YOU'D EXPECT FROM A VARMENT RIFLE.

Is there any barrel marking that indicates the barrel is Ruger-mfr'd. Is there any date available on when the barrels on certain models began to be Ruger-mfr'd or when ALL were mfr'd?

Thanks Guy's. I own one Ruger Rifle, But it has a custom barrel on it. I like the Bolt's and the Stocks, Ruger wood stocks give me LESS felt recoil per cal. than any other makes. They have a reputation of shooting Great one day and not the next. I thik we will see Big things happening with Ruger this comeing year.
Their Blk Hawks are the greatest singel action Pistol ever Made.[:D][:D]
