winchester M50 alloy not marked featherweight?

its the first time i saw one. was this common? is there an unmarked model im missing in my collection? was this the early version of the featherweight? [?]

    Bobski: Mine, (2) the only marking on them is the "A" after the serial number. They are not stamped "Featherweight". Regards Dave

    ok. so what we have here is a reversal of oddities! seems the standard marking is just an A after the serial number. since i only have one, i assumed all were like this. so the one im looking at is normal and the one i own is weird. heres a pic of mine. its a grip capped field grade gun with a plain ws-1 bbl on it. no diamonds under the forearm.

    Good morning Bob: That's a very late gun, the Featherweight gun came out in Jan. 58, and the first two years they just had the "A", in 1960 is when they started to stamp "Featherweight" below the serial number. I did not understand your question at first, the picture made it clear! The 2 I have are from 1958. Regards Dave

    so my guess was right. the 'a' marked 'only' frame was an early featherweight. ive been educated! [:)]
