What do I have? Mouser cleaning kits?
I have 13 kits I purchased at an estate auction. They were advertised as mauser gun cleaning kits. They look like what could best be described as a tabacco can. They all have the same contents but vary slightly in rope diameter, drop weight on the string, and brush tubes. They contain a rope with weight on the end, a combination nylon-brass-nylon brush, what looks to be horse hair brush, a small spiral nylon brush, a small detail brush that looks like a miniture version of what you would brush a turkey or ham with in the oven, a metal pin about three inches long and a tool that looks like a screw driver on the end and a slot in the center that the pin can go through and be use as a tee handle, and an oil bottle with long tip turned inside the bottle until ready to use with one leather gasket sealing the tube to bottle and one leather gasket sealing the cap.
Can anybody tell me excactly what I have? I have four with the number 2 stamped on the lid. Three with the number 1 stamped on the lid. Four with RG57 1 stamped on the lid. 1 with RG57 1 64 stamped on the lid. 1 with RG57 2 stamped on the lid. They are all rust free except for two or three that are showing some rust at the inside bottom of the can and a couple that look like they were carried and used. The rest look unissued and new in condition. All 13 have the same contents with some slight variations in content design such as string diamter and weight length. I can send pictures if you would like.

They sound like postwar East German Mauser cleaning kits.
Not WWII or before, that's for sure.
The WWII kits are known as RG34. Your's are later, like 1957.
