Win 23 Custom "Mountain Quail"
Need any info on Win 23 Custom, Fourth Grand Slam, Quail Unlimited, Mountain Quail shotgun. I understand 100 were put togeather for quail unlimited as banquet guns. They are highly engraved with mountain quail and pointer dogs, numbered and signed by Bottega C. Giontanelli. Any info on year of banquets, engraver, etc is appreciated. To TRAP 55: Yes, I have # 69/100. I'm sorry, but I don't have pic capability; However, I know where there is another for sale on the net that you can view. Go to The Gun Room (www.doublegun.com), then to Dawson's Doubles. He has one listed as #658 Winchester 23 Custom. It is 48/100. I think mine is a little nicer in wood, etc, but pictures speak for themselves. I think his price is about 3900, no box, no case. I don,t know how many winchokes he has for it. With chokes and 27" barrels, this makes for a great upland bird gun in 12 gague. Let me know what you think. I'm afraid I had to pay a higher price. Jer 0 -
Very nice, excellant engraving. You should contact Quail Unlimited, I would think they could give you the info you want. I'm guilty of paying a little more than a guns current value, but at the time I wanted it, could afford it, and thats what it was worth to me. Two of the most expensive guns I own were gifts, so it all balances out in the end![;)]
Were these guns all Banquet presentations? How did you come by this one? If you have pics of yours, e-mail them to me and I can post them for you.
