headstamps on Maine Cartridge Company SS109 62 gr
Anybody here have any loaded 5.56 ammo from Maine Cartidge Company? I have them in 50 round boxes and they are labeled SS109 62 grain. I want to know what headstamp is on them. Mine have Lake City headstamps from 2002. I was not expecting that, and when I pulled a couple of bullets, they were shorter than other ammo that I know is 55 grain (SA, Radway, American Eagle). Shouldn't 62 grain bullets be a little longer than 55 grain? Unless I am total confused I believe I may have gotten the old bait-and-switch from the company I ordered this ammo from (and some other ammo that I bought from them too).

GL, I've not bought anything from them, although they have been set up at several shows I've attended in Northern New England. I've not been terribly impressed with the appearance of personnel or product.

You have to weigh the bullets to determine if they are 55 or 62 grains. Because of the difference in the density of lead and copper alloys nothing can be determined about their weight based on their size (volume).
Get them weighed and if you got the "bait-and-switch", I would be asking for my money back.
I hate deceptive or sloppy merchants and they should be made to suffer economically because this is the only message they understand.
