Sterling 25 firing pin ??

First let me say I am NOT a gunsmith, but I do enjoy tring. Anyway a friend brought me his sterling 25 because he had just inherited it and it would not fire. When I pulled it down I found that the firing pin was gone. I ordered one for the model 300 which was the only 25 cal. that numrich offered (the have 2 one old model one new mod.) I bought the old mod. cause the dia. was correct. Well the dia. is right but the thing is way long. Both the part that strikes the primer as well as the body that has the(excuse me for not knowing the proper terms) tit that cocks the firing pin. So after all this rambling I guess my real question is how do I figure out what model this gun really is? Only markings are sterling arms Gasport N.Y. That is on the left side of the frame on the right side is just the serial number. Thanks for any help.[?]

    Try calling the number listed and speak to one of the reps, they should be able to help you. Or just buy them both. https://www.e-gunparts.com/ read it they have a old & new style.

    I called e-gunparts and they told me they did NOT give tech. advice. I purchased both firing pins and they both don't work. The one for the old model fits but the end that strikes the primer seems to long. and the other end has a tit that locks the firing pin back and it doesn't to go far enough back (when the slide is pulled back) to catch and cock the gun.[?]

    The first thing you said was you were not a gunsmith.If it were me, I would take it to a gunsmith.

    Are you sure it's a .25 or is it a .22?? Have you ever shot it?? did you look at all the markings on it?? IS IT WORTH IT, what I mean is I have one also and even with the broken grip it fires and I wii not spend the $8.00 on a grip for the POS, the only reason I keep it is a departed uncle gave it to me as a gift and thats all. If this was something I bought...SCRAP PILE. JM2C

    Okay I know what a POS sterling arms guns are, they rank right up there with Iver Johnson,IMOP. but this gun has sentimental value to a friend. As for my not taking this gun to a gunsmith anyone who lives in good ol CALIF. and has taken a gun to a smith lately should know why I won't. Back to the topic I have completely stripped this gun down and have not been able to find a model number, I have been doing gun repairs for some 20 yrs. with no formal trainning. When the job is to complicated I take it to a smith. Now if everyone is done with their cheap shots, and can give some good advice I would sure appreciate it.

    Read my previous post and look to see if it is a .25 and not a .22. If your real thin skinned you won't last here too long like the rest. If you want a flood of answers I suggest you put this topic in the GENERAL FORUMS, more people read them and you will get more answers there. Try valium, it works.

    Most of the "pride of Gasport" products were a joke. I had one jam o matic that kept getting sent to the factory for repair, they "fixed " it and sent it back claiming to have test fired it, I could never get more than one or two out of it before it went south, finally cut it to pieces and sent it back to Sterling..kept the pieces from rattling with some cushioning material courtesy of my Boxer dog..

    You may be dealing with something that wont work no mattewr what you do, also check the face of the slide (where firing pin goes through)it probably isnt flat..
