S &W Model ID's
Is there a way to I D a S&W,I have a current model stainless,4'' revolver,38 special,adjustible rear sight,w/hammer.I think its a m60 but can find no model # anywhere.Ihave looked at many Smith's through the years and most don't say the model #.Whats the secret....Thanks

Unlatch cylinder, swing down, look at hinge crane. Are any numbers there? Like xxx-x?

The model 60 does not have adjustable sights and only comes with a 2" barrel with the exception of a very limited number with 3" barrels.
From your description it sounds like a model 67. Is it a 6 shot?

This is a 2 inch Model 60. Does it look kinda like this? If you have a 4" barrel, it is more likely you have a Model 64, which is the stainless version of the Model 10.

Thank you all,I found the model# where you said it would be.It is a model 60-4, I did measure the barrel,my mistake,it does measure 2 1/2'',but it does have a rear adjustable sight and it is in stainless steel....Mike 0 -

The Standard Catalog ofr Smith & Wesson, Second Edition, lists the value as $310 in excellent condition. The Blue Book of Gun Values, 25th Anniversary Edition lists the value as $350 if 100% and $295 if 98%. I wouldn't sell it for that, but this might give you an idea of the value. 0
