Winchester Model 12 ???
I just recently purchased a Win. Mdl. 12, 12 guage and was wondering if any one out thier could help me with what it is worth? The serial # on it is Y20065XX. It has the rib w/ two beads on it and has the ventalated barrel. The stock has one crack in it and other than that it is about 90-95% The forend has the diamond checkering. The bluing is also 90-95% The port cover and magazine cover has an engraved circular patteren to it. Thanks for the help to all.

The choke really won't matter much. The cracked stock immediately drops it to a $250 gun.

uhh....a y grade post 64 pigeon, a skeet, or trap gun with a crack can still be a valuable gun. lets see what he has first. 0 -
Welcome to the forum muchow! you have what's known as a "Y" Md 12. they were made from 1972-1980. This one was made in 1973. They came with 26, 28, or 30 in barrels, choked Skeet, Imp/Cyl, Mod. or Full. The circular "engraving" is known as an "engine turned bolt and carrier or jeweled". That was standard on these Md 12s. The cracked stock is a real shame. However there are some "Y" stocks on the market, they usually run from $150-$250. Even with a cracked stock, I would say a minimum of $500. As bobski said, if it's a Trap, Skeet, or a Pigion gun, worth much more. Trap and Skeet guns usually start around $900 and up. did you get the original box it came in? This m. 12 has a 2 3/4 Full Choke w/ a 30 inch ventalate rib and barrel. As far as it being a trap or pidgen grade how would I know by looking at the shotgun. It dosent say trap, skeet or pigden grade any where on the barrel or reciever. Does a crack in the stock really knock down the price extremly low. Where could I get an original stock at? Hello muchow: Well during the time frame your gun was made, they didn't mark them Trap! Skeet guns were stamped "Skeet" on the barrel. Pigeon guns, have a Pigeon, (the bird, not the word, engraved on the receiver extention, between the serial number and the magazine tube alignment arrow. So if your gun doesn't have a Monte Carlo Butt Stock, it's most likely the "Field" grade which is basically the same thing, with the exception it has the low comb butt stock.
Yes a cracked butt stock does lower the value quite a bit. As far as a replacement goes, just keep an eye on all the auctions, and look on the net. Like I said I see them come up for auction or fore sale, about 1 every six weeks or so. Regards Dave0 -

Hello muchow: Well if it does have a Monte Carlo butt Stock, even though it's cracked, $500-$750. The reason I give a range there is a big difference in your rating 90-95%, which could mean several hundred dollars. Like I said, you can find "Y" stocks and replace the cracked one. I recommend you look for a set, both butt stock and forearm, that way you are ensured a match. Nothing worse than mismatched stocks on a Md 12! I don't know what you paid for it either, hope fully not more than I mentioned. Regards Dave 0 -
