Ruger Standard Model - Unusual

I have a Ruger standard model 22 with a 3 1/4" +/- factory barrel
serial # 11-*****. I was told by a gunsmith this may be worth some $$, and am wondering if anyone has any info. Other than blueing wear it is in good condition for the age.

    11- serial # were made 71 to 73 if I had 3 more digets I can give you the exact year.

    I don't know what would be rare about it with out a pic or detailed disc.

    I do not know much abour Rugers, but, as far as I know, Ruger made no 3.25-inch barreled standard Models during that time frame. My guess is that the barrel has either been altered or it has been measured improperly. More likely, only that portion of the barrel forward of the frame has been measured, while it should be measured to the rear end of the chamber. If the gunsmith does not know that, I do not believe I would trust that 'smith with anything.

    Judge.... I think you called it right. I have an old Standard Auto with 6" barrel I bought about 25 years ago.

    The standard auto was made in 4" and 6" only. Sounds like it was reasured wrong.

    Daniel..... Welcome to the forums. Try measuring it from the muzzle to the rear of the chamber as the Judge said. I cant imagine anyone cutting off 3/4" from the barrel.

    Ruger Standard Automatics are 4-3/4" and 6"

    The "Red Eagle News Exchange" puts a value of $185 on a Digit Prefix s/n, 4-3/4" barrel, Standard Auto in 95%-98% condition. Model #RST4

    If it's a factory second with a large "S" stamped on the frame or receiver it is extremely rare.

    If it's an "A-100" grip frame, this style has the magazine button on the left side of the grip frame and the eagle medallion in the right grip, with black eagle. General s/n range 11-33549 to 11-68245
    are fairly scarce.

    After reading some posts and getting a couple emails, it appears I have a 1973 standard with the 4 3/4" barrel and the A-100 grip Serial # is 11-74***. I don't really know how to grade firearms, so I don't know what it's worth.
