S&W Copy & Value Reference
Well, one day, it had to happen. Fella down in Florida put what he thought was an early 32 HE up and I bought it from him. When I got it, oops! It's a Spanish Orbea Hermanos. I don't think he was trying to put one over on anyone ... believe he honestly thought he had an old Smith.
Anyway, trying to work out a reconcilliation value, but I don't have anything in my reference library that gives values on copies. Hoping that someone here has a reference.
Revolver is in excellent shape and has been re-nickled ... which the fella had noted. Early 1900's, good refinish job ... mechanically all is good and tight with only some light pitting in bore.
I think the revolver is worth around $75 to someone that collects copies, or whatever.
Options being considered are: Return for full refund, including shipping, or partial refund based on value difference and I hang it on den wall as humerous memento.
Need assistance validating my value estimate, or provide me with a reference based value that isn't based on a "guess".
So far there appears to be no un-willingness to work out the differences, but I would like to have a value that has a more solid basis.

Don't have a lot to add to what you already know. However, Orbea Hermanos (Orbea Brothers) were located in Eibar Spain and later became Orbea Et Cia. (Orbea and Sons). As well as S&W copies they also made a .25 caliber pocket pistol. They were in business from at least 1918 until 1936.
I think that your estimate of value of $75-$100 is about right. As I am sure you know, there is not a lot of interest in these copies and the value is whatever someone is willing to pay.

Well it turns out that the seller favors a full refund (including shipping) so there is no longer a need to determine the value of the copy ... HOWEVER ... if someone has some info. on a good reference or some good references for copy firearm identification and value, please, let me know as I would like to add that level of info. to my reference library.
