Reloading question
I am having to use BR-2 large rifle primers on my 22-250 reloads.
I have been putting 39.2 grains of H380 under a 53GR Barnes TSX FB.
The Barnes book says you can go over this charge a little because of the ring lands groves in the bullet.
My question is ,
Do you think I should back off a few tenths of a grain to offset the large rifle primer?

Yesterday I was playing with my 257 Roberts that I've had some accuracy problems with. I loaded up 3 rounds using 35 grains of Varget and a 115 gr Nosler B.T. The OAL was 2.920". This group of 3 averaged about 7/8" at 100 yards. I loaded up 3 more with the same powder and charge, except this time I made the OAL 2.900 and the grouping opened up to about 6". My question is, can .020" make that big of a difference in accuracy? Next question is, how good of a bullet is the Nosler B.T. on deer? I heard it said once that they have too thin a jacket to get adequate penetration, and my final question is, on bullets with a cannelure, such as the Speer Grand Slam, is it necessary to seat the bullet so the cannelure is at the rim of the case? 0 -
Is it a 44 Mag rifle or a 44 Special rifle? Is it a lever action? If its a lever action 44 MAG, you can fire 44 mags or 44 specials thru it, factory 44 ammo is made for revolvers and rifles, its the same, it will not hurt the rifle. You can safely fire 44 Special reloads thru it also. Just use the pistol data when reloading.

.44 specials won't 'bulge' the chamber but might 'ring' the chamber.That is,a ring of lead may form that would prevent a magnum case from chambering.A good cleaning will remove the deposits.Same thing happens in revolvers.No big thing.
If it's a lever gun it may feed magunms better than specials,lenth wise.You can always use low end magnum loads for better feeding if ya have the brass.It is NOT reccomended to use Specaial loads in Magnum cases.Severly underloading a case is supposed to be one reason for Kabooms in guns.

If he split the barrel on his rifle with his reloads I would say he has NO credibility.[:0]0 -
Without my reloading book I am not 100% positive. But from memory I believe rifle loads have a little more powder. I have both a rifle and handgun in the 44mag and to remove any confusion I load the same round for both. I have not split a barrel but I know what the max load is and stay below it. I don't question people credibility without knowing all the facts but I would cautious of anyone reloading that split a gun barrel. 0 -
Hello the only PISTOL/RIFLE issure that comes to mind is they asked you not to shoot lead bullets in the ruger semi auto rifle as they could clog up the gas port. other then that I also think your "DEALER" is FOS 0
