What 10mm would you get

OK, im going to be buying my first hand gun, asside to the couple of dozen rifle and shot guns i own. Im looking at the 10mm guns and was wondering out of the S&W 1006 and Glock 20, what would be the better gun for shooting and dependable? thanks

    The EAA Witness and the Glock are the only 2 mfg that still produce a 10mm. Kimber makes one in limited production. S&W is a good 10mm. I like the 1076. I own both the S&W 1076 and the Witness full size 10mm. I will be purchasing a Glock 20 soon. Ruger has made a single action 10mm and S&W makes a double action revolver. The 10 is a very good round. You will not do wrong with what ever hand gun you go with. My 2 cents [8D]

    thanks, im not sure yet what i am going to get this week, i do like SS guns, and im also looing at 1911, so many choices.

    Dan Wesson and Para Ordnance {I believe ) are making them.If you want a heavy gun buy the S&W 1006 I have two of them .They are about the most rugged 10 mm out there. [:)]

    I have a glock 20 in 10mm and love it. I just purchased 2 15 round mags for it also. Its very accurate,reliable and durable. I also purchased a Jarvis custom barrel since I reload. I don't know if your aware of it or not, but the glocks in 40 and 10mm do not have full chamber support. If you are going to reload you need to get a full chamber support barrel. You can do a search for Kaboom and glock and will find lots of reading material. Also glocks have polygonal rifling and don't like lead.

    If you like SS then the S&W or the Dan Wesson may be what you are looking for. IAI also made a long slide 10mm. All will be out of production or special runs. The Glock has the ability for some special add ons but not SS. My 2 cents [8D]

    ATF, I hear ya. Good news is it was only the 40's and 10mm that has the chamber problem. If you don't reload then its not an issue at all. Actually buying a custom barrel just made it even more accurate and just as reliable, so I leave it in all the time.

    I will admit however that if I new of this problem before hand I would have gone with another caliber.

    Being considerably older than most on this forum ---- with the exception of a few ---- please do NOT over look a good Colt Gold Cup in 10 mm. For those of you who have a "REAL" stainless steel EAA Witness --- NOT the "wonder-finish" and you wish to part with it, I wish you would drop me a email.

    Another one NOT to be over looked is the Springfield Omega. The "long-slide" would be better than the 5 inch barrel model, and even better yet is the "long-slide" with the "ported" barrel. If you manage to find one of the "long-slides" and it has an extra .38 Super barrel, I would be happy to talk to you about taking it off your hands at a reasonable price, the .38 Super barrel that is.

    You can tell from my "handle" what I had rather be hunting, but I also hunt Florida coastal marsh hogs. When I am ground-blinded in, I want a handgun as backup with a heck of a lot of fire-power. I usually carry a S&W Model 29 in .44 magnum or the Springfield Omega in 10 mm.
    It can get "REAL - INTERESTING" in a ground-blind with a coastal marsh hog that that been hit on the "shield" with something that won't penetrate completely through it and break both shoulders.

    AdamsQuailHunter....I agree with you. Bought my Omega in the early 90's (.45ACP, 10mm, 38 Super)....(extra barrels are not for sale, but I sure would like to find a 9mm and 40S&W).
