How long does a German luger take to unjam?

I have to do research on the luger. I would like to know how long it takes to unjam it or if it is easy to unjam. It does not have to be for any specific type of luger, just general.

    Does jamming require a gun to be dismantled? Any good websites on gun jamming? Sorry, im a newbie.

    You do not specify what has caused the "jam"...a failure to cycle can be the result of broken parts, bad or improper ammunition, poor maintainence, numerous other problems, if it is just a simple failure to eject or feed...cycling the action by hand is accomplished in seconds.

    Jack.. I am sorry. There is no way to answer your question without a more detailed description of the type of "Jam" you are experiencing. I'm sure 22s reply was tounge in cheek.The key to a proper operating Luger is to keep the pistol clean and to use clean ammo.I have owned many in years past and have found them to be very reliable.

    I had the hold open latch break on one once and that jammed it in toggle open position

    Sounds like someone in Canada has an unregistered Pistol and now that it is broken cant get it fixed..

    BTW they dont unjam themselves so if you are waiting for some sort of "reset " operation to occur ..it wont..

    It's a military weapon, about half a second if you know the drill.

    Sorry, Canuck, that these guys are so "flip" with you and your question. Hangfire and Jody Commander are on the mark; we need to know the nature of the jam. You see, if it's just a matter of an underpowered cartridge that didn't quite kick out, or one that was slowed down on extraction because it or the chamber was dirty, and didn't get kicked out in time and "stovepiped", or some other type of an ordinary jam, all you have to do is pull the toggle up and to the rear, and if that doesn't eject it, turn it upside down and give it a good shake or two. So--just as long as it take to do that...say, 2 seconds. These other fellows have a point in that a mechanical breakage of some sort will take as long as it takes to repair the situation; but the same exact thing applies to any semi-auto pistol. Lugers are not better or worse than most.[;)]
