Yugo SKS Front Sight ASM Removal

I found an affordable way to remove the Front sight asm from the Yugo SKS...

I used an automotive Gear/clutch/flywheel puller tool...
The tool is available at hardware or auto parts stores. Mine is a Sears Craftsman (Retail $25-30)...

I clamped the jaws onto the grenade portion of the sight-asm...

Placed a soft metal fender washer in between the center screw of the tool and the end of the barrel. (A bronze washer or bushing would have been my next choice)

I also placed good ol' duct tape around the jaws of the tool to keep them centered. (An afterthought was to use a hose clamp, or, clamp the entire barrel asm and tool setup into a large vice instead, to steady it.)

Grab a large ratchet and start turning. It was tough at first, but eventually the sight popped loose and pulled evenly the remaining distance down the barrel.

I had tap it lightly to pop it completely off, due to the Dia. of the washer I used, but it was literally like 5-7 very light blows.

Result of the whole ordeal was the sight and barrel were completely unharmed!
