varmint scopes?

I'm looking for a good varmint scope for under $200. I just got a ruger 22-250

    Choice's are limited to under $200.00 look on fleabay for a good used leupold or nikon.

    You get what you pay for. But for a lil more you can get a Super Sniper scope fixed 16X.

    Good scopes are'nt cheap even on flea bay. expect to pay $350 to $1000
    If you are shooting P dogs look for something with fine cross hairs or a target dot. heavy cross hairs will cover a dog at 300 yrds. Also look for something in the 12-16X range, more than that is not necessary unless you do alot of shooting at 400 + yrds. Even then I keep mine at 12X so the recoil won't kick me off target so far that I
    miss the fun! Also at higher settings the heat marige off the barrel
    will mess with the sighting.

    I understand the budget crunch. Simmon's scopes aren't awful, they come in your price range. The real question is what do you want in a varmint scope. Are you going to use it on cyotes or praire dogs.

    I have a tasco 6-24 with a 50 mm lens. 2 points- you dont need 50mm lens if you are hunting during the day and 16 power is probably the highest setting you'll use. My tasco works fine for groundhog hunting. I will upgrade one day when I can afford it, but depending on how much you're going to use it, and for what, a relatively inexpensive scope like tasco or simmons will probably do the trick.

    how about a tasco 3x9x50mm for $50. Matte finish and looks new.
