CZ52 or Star
Local gunshow is underway...found a CZ52 in 7.65x25 and a Star in 9mm. Don't know much about the CZ or the caliber. It is nice and tight, clean bore and they're asking $120.
Star is styled like a 1911 w/out the safety grip. It too is tight, clean bore...they're asking $140.
Both of them are about 90%.
Pro's and con's on both would be appreciated.

The CZ-52 is an excellant pistol. That price sounds kind of high though.I gave 100.00 for mine with 2 mags,holster and cleaning kit. 0 -
what are you going to do with the pistol? carry it? just range shooting? This may make a difference...
the Star is an excellent buy these days, especially at $120. It's an all steel piece and shoots great.
The CZ is larger, heavier and an oddball caliber (before all you guys start yelling that the 762x25 isn't odd go to Walmart and try to buy a box). The CZ has a habit of cracking firing pins... see www.floridaammotraders.com as they sell stainless replacements... $120 is a fair price IMO.
Both seem to have the reputation of working as designed, so I doubt you would be disappointed by either choice.

Time you pay shipping and transfer fees that price is about right on the CZ and the Stars around me go for 160 to 180. The bad thing about the cz is you can't go to the local shop to buy ammo in most cases, although you can buy a drop in barrel for the cz chamberd in 9mm.Both have one hell of a muzzle blast earing protection is a must.

[8D] I like the 9MM round and the way the Star feels as I have both pistols. It might be me but I shoot better with the Star. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks guys...was leaning towards the Star because of caliber. All I'm going to do with it is take it to the range or perhaps as a sidearm while hunting...but I've got three 1911's for that too.

John, MrMike posted a lot of very, very good things about the Star model B over on the general discussion forum. His father has one and they are amazed at the accurcy of the gun. Such good things were said about the Star that a few weeks ago I went out and bought one locally. $182.50 grand total and the gun was about 80%, but the dealer went out and test fired a few mags through it and gave me the target. Since the gun functioned perfectlly and the target looked good I paid the $182.50 as I have known and trust this dealer for a few years. Small dealer who works out of his house.

If you have three 1911s try the cz 52. It's a neat fun gun.

Some of the Star models came in 9mm Largo, not 9mm parabellum, so becareful of which 9mm it is if you decide to buy the Star.
Some of the earlier Stars are available as a C&R item as are all the CZ52s.

If I was selling those two guns the price would be reversed.They are both good quailty ,it's just the Star has a higher wholesale price.[:)] 0 -
