AK sight post pin question....

I need to get the front pin out of the sight post on my Romanian made AK. I've been told it only comes out one way. If you're holding the gun, looking down the barrel, which way do the pins come out?

    I believe it should come out left to right because there's indentations on the right side and none on the left. I've hammered the he&& out of this thing and it won't budge? What do I have to do!??

    Well, I just bent the punch. It won't budge. What I mean by left to right is holding the gun, as if you were firing it, looking down the sights. This is so unbelievable. I'm really p!ssed off right now.

    Thanks Mark. What did you mean by 'dremel work'? I have a dremel. Anything I've done on this AK has not been easy, to say the least. I didn't expect this to be either. Fortunately, I just need to get the front pin out. I feel like I'm beating the he!! out of this sightpost though. It won't budge.

    never known one to come off easy--usually have to grind off the peened end and then apply a little heat. check out this site for lots of ak tutorials. http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/model.htm

    The pin I"m trying to get out doesn't look like that and they are not in that location. When looking at the side view, of the sight post, both pins are in-line, above the barrel. They are pretty much completely flush with the sight post on both sides and are 1/8". There's no way to cut anything off on them. If I put oil on them, I highly doubt any of it would get by, into the post. You can make out the pins there but there is really no space either side for oil to penetrate.

    Just bought a cobalt drill bit used for drilling hardened and stainless steel. Expected to drill it right out. Barely put a mark in the pin. What is it made of that makes it so hard?

    Just popped the pin out. I found that it needed to be heated longer and it came out pretty easy. My joy was soon back to frustration though. This slip on muzzle break isn't worth a sh#&! It's crooked!! I just don't get it.
