    One important fact that Bob (Hangfire) forgot to mention (most likely due to the fact that he is an old F.A.R.T.), is that there is no such thing as an "antique" Model 1912/12.

    The very first Model 1912s (in 20 gauge) were not delivered to warehouse stock until August 30th, 1912. According to Federal law, a firearm can not be considered "antique" unless it was manufactured on or before December 31st, 1898.

    Welcome to the forum flutz! Well there is a little law about the "50 year old" thing, which now close to 70% of all pre64 Model 1912s,(all) and Model 12s fall under. Meaning they can be classified as a "Curio or Relic". But as Bert said, definately NOT antique.

    As Bob stated the standard prodution guns were 12,16,20,28 ga.
    12 ga. introduced in 1914, Discontinued 1980
    16 ga. " " " " 1964
    20 ga. " " 1912 " 1964
    28 ga. " " 1937 " 1957

    What I've found out over the years Winchester did play with the idea of 14 ga. and 24 ga. guns back in the 20s and 30s, but these were experimental. Over the years there were close to 50 different variations that were made. From unusual field grades, to Black Diamond grade, Trap, Skeet, and Pigeon grades. From the 20s through the mid 50s, you could "special" order a Md 12 with just about anything you wanted. Those "special ordered" guns can bring a real premium!! Regards Dave
