llama mini-max 45
i have a llama that i am having feed problems with, i have polished the ramp and the slide. i have been told that using +p ammo will solve this problem due to the added velocity of the slide whipping back, can anyone tell me if this is true before i spend $ on the ammo?

It might work, it might not. Only way to find out is to try. Llamas don't have a very good reputation around here. I had a Mini-Max 45 a while back that would stovepipe every 20 rounds or so. Also, some of the parts were plastic and did not appear as if they were going to hold up. The detent pin housing for the safety and slide release was plastic and bent up and down considerably when manipulating the safety. I liked the looks of the little thing but had absolutely no confidence in it, so I got rid of it and got a Colt.

I had the same gun,but before I shot it I polished the feed ramp and also stoned and polished the slide and frame rails.I never had any problems with feeding or accuracy with it.That was about 10 years ago and I have sold it for double what I paid for it but I dont think the one I had used any plastic parts.Must be something new. 0 -
I have cured the ills of two of these little jewels by doubling up on the recoil spring. That is where I believe most of the problem lies, although I also did everything that these other fellows did. After it still wouldn't work properly, I decided that the return stroke of the slide was too weak to jam the cartridge up the ramp and into the chamber, so I put a smaller spring of the same length as the recoil spring inside the recoil spring around the recoil spring guide, and they both worked great. Actually, truth be known, I bought this second spring at the hardware store, as how is Wolff Spring Co. going to know what you need? It wasn't much of a spring, thinner and lighter than the original, the wire is about half the diameter of the original; but there isn't too much more power needed to do the job. Don't know where Llama went wrong in their calculation on this. I don't share the Forum general dislike of Llamas; but I freely admit that many of them need some TLC before they work properly.
