"Slap Gun"

Hello, I was recently given my Great Uncle's Slap gun, I will have to look up the manufactur later and post it. I remember it was made in New England somewhere, I tried looking up the name of the company but never found anything on it. It's about as basic as you can get, two pieces of pipe, with a key welded on the bottom, a crude wood stock and a small steel pin at the end for a sight. From what I can figure out it comes apart, you drop a round? shotgun maybe ? looks to be about a 12 gauge or larger into the front pipe, slide it back into the pipe attached to the stock, and slam it together. This is what I remember my Uncle telling me about it. I think he got it from one of the war's but not sure which one. I will get more information on it, I do remember is saying stamped on the side of the stock, "Guerilla gun" does anyone know anything about this?

    I had one of these in my hands some years ago. It was made by a name like Richards, or Richardson, or something very similar to that. Never could figure what it could be used for.

    Before you fire it make sure it's not a flare gun, which the tolorences would be less than a device manufactured for a shotgun round. I might have made that mistake once loooooong ago.

    There were similar items home made and used in the Phillipines during the Japanese occupation.The plan was to suddenly jump out of the bushes as a Jap was going by, shoot him from about 2 ft away, and disappear. They would fire a 12 ga round.

    I don't remember the details but apparently it was a cheapo Zip-type gun designed to operate exactly as described above built for use by the resistance use during (I think) the second world war.

    Then, afterwards some GI built them here in the USA and marketed them as a cheap/nostalgia type gun, the "Gorilla" (Guerilla) gun.
