Carbona Bluing?
What materials are needed to do this kind of bluing and where can I get them?

this is also known as charcoal bluing. requires a furnace and bone charcoal for receivers, and pine tar for small parts. Winchester used this type of bluing until about 1939 and then transitioned into the du-lite dipping method. Ned Schwing discusses charcoal bluing in his fine winchester books. I have the slide action volumes I & II and cant imagine an idividual could possibly do his own charcoal bluing. I do know of two restoration gunsmiths that do a fine job. One is in Texas and one in Washington. Hope this helps. 0
